Root Canal
Root canal treatment is the removal of the nerve inside the tooth, which is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form. A root canal may require one or more office visits. The first step of a root canal is to take an x-ray. Next, local anesthesia will be used to numb the area. A rubber dam will be placed to keep the tooth dry during procedure. An access hole will be made into the tooth. The nerve inside the tooth will be removed by using a series of root canal files. Sodium hypochlorite will be used to disinfect the tooth. Once the tooth is thoroughly cleaned a filling will be placed to seal the tooth. An appointment may be made to crown the tooth in order to protect it and prevent the tooth from breaking.

Cerec Crowns
Cerec is a new technology used by dentists that was developed by Sirona. At a basic level Cerec allows dentists to computer generate teeth or parts of teeth that need to be replaced. An optical 3D image is taken with a small camera. The restoration is created on the screen and milled to create the tooth from a block of ceramic. There are many different shapes of the blocks of ceramic which allows dentists to match your natural tooth color and make a replacement that will look natural and exact. The total time it takes to create a tooth from a virtual rendering is about 10-12 minutes. Because this is a very exact instrument there is no need for temporaries. Therefore, in one visit your tooth could be restored to its natural look and feel.
